A lot of great things have been happening with Bloomington Blades Youth Hockey! Here are a few (long overdue) updates on our 2016/17 season.
Thanks to a generous grant award from the MidAm Hockey Roger Sharrer Grow Hockey initiative, the Girls Hockey team has brand new jerseys! Received just in time for January 15 home games with the Columbus and Indy Fusion girls programs.
Coach Amanda Miller said, "The girls had so much fun! Thank you everyone who made this happen today! I spoke with both coaches and both thanked us for inviting them to come. I went and asked each team if they had fun - both teams said they had a lot of fun and the Indy girls asked if we could do this again! The girls are super excited to go to Columbus for another round of games. We also made some great connections for possible games again next year!"
The Girls team will visit Columbus Indiana on Sunday, Feb. 12.
The 14U, 12U, and 10U teams traveled to South Bend to play at historic Notre Dame University's Compton Family Ice Center for a tournament on December 2-3, 2016. The 14U and 12U teams won their division championships, and the 10U team finished as division runner-up.
Later in December, the 14U team won the International Silver Stick Midwest Regional in Ft. Wayne for the second year in a row, following up the program's unprecedented sweep of the 10U, 12U and 14U divisions in 2015. The win qualified the team to travel to the Finals in Pelham, Ontario in January.
Success continued with the 12U and 10U teams in Cleveland, OH the weekend of January 14-15, with the 10U winning their division and 12U runner-up.
Looking ahead, the Buckeye Travel Hockey League Championship tournament will be played February 24-26. This weekend is also the finale for the 2016/17 travel hockey season.
