About BBYHA
Who we are
We're a non-profit, volunteer-run organization with one goal: to get your kids on the ice and having fun. The BBYHA ice hockey program serves the city of Bloomington and the surrounding counties of Monroe, Morgan, Lawrence, Owen, and Greene.
We offer directly, or partner to offer, several hockey experiences:
- Travel hockey with the Blades is our primary focus, adding extra ice time and competitive opportunities on top of our house-hockey program
- House Hockey and Hockey initiation are in partnership with the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation, for kids who are interested in local-only hockey. Skating experience for house hockey is helpful but not necessary. House initiation is best for kids 6 and under who are just getting started on the ice.
American Development Model
The BBYHA endorses the USA Hockey American Development Model. The ADM provides age-appropriate guidelines that are intended to help our children enjoy hockey and develop their skills in a way that is appropriate for their stage of development.
Our Home Rink
The Bloomington Blades Youth Hockey Association play at the Frank Southern Ice Arena, located at 2100 S. Henderson St., Bloomington, IN.
