House League
Find Your Path to Travel Hockey
Start Local. Build Skills. Keep Playing.
For many young players, the journey toward competitive hockey starts right here in Bloomington.
The City of Bloomington’s House Hockey program is designed to give beginning and developing players the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of hockey in a fun, supportive environment. Players develop skating, puck-handling, shooting, passing, positioning, and teamwork skills while gaining confidence on the ice.
House Hockey is a great starting point for families who are new to hockey—and an important developmental step for players who may eventually want to play travel hockey.
What Comes Next?
As players gain experience and become ready for additional competition, Bloomington Blades offers pathways to continue developing their skills.
House Hockey
The place to start.
House Hockey is a recreational, non-travel program offered through the City of Bloomington. It provides a welcoming introduction to organized hockey while helping players build the fundamental skills they need to succeed on the ice.
It’s a great fit for players who are just getting started, want to continue playing recreational hockey, or are working toward the next level.

Hybrid Development Program
Get a taste of travel hockey without traveling full-time.
Our hybrid developmental option gives players the opportunity to participate with a Bloomington Blades travel team while maintaining a non-travel commitment.
This can be a great bridge for players who are developing toward travel hockey or for families who want additional skill development and a higher level of competition without committing to a full travel schedule.
Players get the benefit of practicing and developing alongside travel players while continuing to participate at a level that works for their family.
For information on the development program, email hockeyops@bloomingtonblades.com.
Travel Hockey
For players ready for the next challenge.
Travel hockey provides a more competitive experience for players who are ready to take the next step. Players practice and compete as a team, developing their skills while learning the commitment, teamwork, and game awareness that come with competitive hockey.

Your Player’s Hockey Journey
There isn’t one right way to develop as a hockey player.
Some players start in House Hockey and eventually move into the hybrid program before making the transition to full travel hockey. Others may continue enjoying recreational hockey for years. The goal is to help each player find the right level of challenge, development, and commitment.
House Hockey → Hybrid Development → Travel Hockey
